I was informed last evening that there are two contingencies of medical students; there are the married med students and the single med students (most of whom have serious relationships, but hey, it’s single enough). Actually, on that topic, I don’t understand why people in relationships are viewed as not being single. As long as somebody isn’t married or engaged it basically means that they’re still open to something better coming along, albeit they are probably biased. I’m just getting a little pissy about everybody getting married so young when I’ve met very few people who I’m the least bit compatible with. I guess I’ll take that as a good thing and move on.

So back to the real topic at hand, med students are lame. During the first month of school I went from an extroverted party-goer to an introvert who has 2 drinks a week tops. After a week with 4 exams, and three weeks of bliss in front of us, I thought there was no better way to relax than to go out drinking, beginning at my place with some pre-gaming (or pre-partying depending on where you come from in the states). Long story short, nobody comes. Responsibility is taking control over our lives, and we’re just sitting back and allowing it to happen. I say no. In our daily lives we must be responsible students, but in our personal lives we should be who we are and maintain our youth.

Oh, I got published in a dating thing for karaoke singers on nerve.com. So I left a link below. Hmmmm, other news is mainly study based. I’m beginning to work on getting a contraceptive class started in the local university and to possibly use it as a stepping stone for workshops at the high school and middle school which currently only teach abstinence programs. That should be an interesting project.

All of my focus on women’s issues down here is making me realize how much I like women’s health in general though. I’m beginning to think about going into gynecology which would have made any of my friends cringe while I was younger, but if there’s something to be said for medical students, it’s that they’re mature. Well, they’re usually mature. If you make a dirty joke at 8am in an evidence based medicine course, people will usually giggle.
